DIAGNOSTIC IMAGING ACCREDITATION
The Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing (DoHA) have announced a requirement for all Diagnostic Imaging Practices who wish to continue to claim Medicare benefits to register for accreditation before 30 June 2008. The Australian Council on Healthcare Standards (ACHS) has been appointed by DoHA as a Stage 1 approved Accreditor.
As of 1 July 2008, new Diagnostic Imaging Practices and Practices who did not register by 30 June 2008 will be required to go through an application process and be assessed against the Diagnostic Imaging Accreditation Scheme Stage 1 Accreditation Standards.
Application Process
Practices with Deemed Accreditation (Practices who registered before 30 June 2008) will now need to apply for Stage 1 Accreditation. This can be done through ACHS and can be completed on-line. If you have not already done so please contact ACHS (see below) so that we can send you the self-assessment requirements for Stage 1 Accreditation.
Practices without Deemed Accreditation (Practices who are new or who did not register by 30 June 2008) must also apply for accreditation to ensure your Practice is eligible for Medicare rebates as quickly as possible. Again this can be done through ACHS and can be completed on-line. An on-line application form for registration should be completed and emailed to diagnostic.imaging@achs.org.au
Please note that ACHS will not be providing
Stage 2 accreditation services.
