In June 2005, after increasing global interest, the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards (ACHS), Australia’s leading health care accreditation provider, established ACHS International.

The ACHSI Standards are based on the ACHS Standards. Elements are able to be modified and supporting guidelines produced to ensure that the standards are culturally appropriate for many countries and cultures, whilst the standards remain comparable with those used in health care organisations in Australia.
