The Australian Council on Healthcare Standards (ACHS) is recognised as the leading health care accreditation body in Australia and now meets overseas requests for a quality healthcare accreditation program through ACHS International (ACHSI).
ACHSI is a wholly owned subsidiary company of ACHS and extends ACHS's mission and vision internationally. Key objectives are:
- to advance ACHS's vision internationally;
- to enhance ACHS's national standing, and
- to facilitate the capacity of international organisations to achieve increased levels of quality and safety for service and care delivery.
Established in July 2005, ACHSI has quickly developed a strong market identity internationally and built valuable relationships. ACHSI's reputation for providing high levels of member support is made possible through a vast international network of highly qualified, trained and experienced surveyors and consultants.
The ACHS is administrated by a secretariat of approximately 50 employees and has a surveyor workforce of industry peers made up of senior health care professionals in organisations across Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, India, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Bahrain and United Arab Emirates.
ACHSI's experience, through the Hong Kong Pilot Scheme and accreditation of members of the Hospital Authority Hong Kong and Private Hospital Association provides ACHSI with a strong understanding of the local contextual issues that are critical to successful accreditation outcomes.
ACHSI has an increasing membership base in Asia and the Middle East in particular.
Member organisations are diverse in size and nature.
