ACHS standards are developed by industry

The standards are updated via working groups, reference groups and expert advisory groups as well as incorporating feedback from focus groups and other consultative forums.

The ACHS Standards Committee reviews all proposed new ACHS standards, criteria and guidelines.

The Standards Committee also ensures that all proposed additions or amendments to existing standards reflect contemporary best practice and encourage continuous improvement in quality.

The Standards Committee members are drawn from across Australia and include those professionally involved in all areas of health care – clinicians, administrators, quality control coordinators and a consumer representative. The committee meetings are attended by senior ACHS staff and the Executive.

The Chair is the ACHS President, Dr Michael Hodgson AM.
