Website signup forms: privacy statement

This statement sets out the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards (ACHS) policy relating to the collection and use of your personal information on the application to signup as registered user on the ACHS website.

1. Your personal information is important to us
The ACHS recognises that your privacy is very important to you and that you have a right to control your personal information. Unless you give us explicit consent to act otherwise, the following policy will govern how the ACHS handles your personal information and safeguards your privacy. The ACHS is committed to protecting your personal information and giving you choices in who can use your personal information and how it can be used. We believe that our privacy policy not only complies with relevant laws but represents industry best practice.

2. Using and disclosing your personal information
The ACHS will not use or disclose any information about you without your consent, unless:

·          Required by law.

·          It necessary to provide you with a service which you have requested.

·          To protect the rights or property of the ACHS, or any member of the public.

 

In order to deliver a service you have requested, we may sometimes share your personal information with contractors for providing improved services.

We will not give any of your personal information to advertisers or any other organisation without your express consent.

3. Storage and security of your personal information
The ACHS will endeavour to take all reasonable steps to keep secure any information which we hold about you, and to keep this information accurate and up to date.

Your information is stored on secure servers that are protected in controlled facilities. Access to our servers are password protected and limited to ACHS employees and contractors who we believe are necessary to provide your organisation with services which you have requested. All efforts are made to protect unauthorised access.

In addition, ACHS employees and the contractors who provide services related to our information systems and premises are required to respect the confidentiality of any personal information held by the ACHS. However, the ACHS will not be held responsible for events arising from unauthorised access to your personal information.

4. What to do if you have a problem or question
If the ACHS becomes aware of any ongoing concerns or problems with information on the website, we will take these issues seriously and work to address these concerns. 5. Future changes
Our commitment to make the ACHS Australia's leading health accreditation organisation means that we are constantly adding new features to processes. Because of this, from time to time, our policies will be reviewed and may be revised. The ACHS reserves the right to change its privacy policy at any time and notify you by posting an updated version of the policy on its website.
