Clinical Incident Management

The ACHS Improvement Academy is providing an interactive training session on Clinical Incident Management to support organisations with respect to  Standard 1, NSQHS second edition. Under this standard, it is the responsibility of the Board and Chief Executive Officer to ensure clinical governance systems are in place including clinical incident management. Whether it is a root cause analysis, incident and near miss investigation, cluster reviews or complaints management, all Clinical Governance Units need to have fit-for-purpose systems in place to meet the requirements of this standard.

This session will reference the National Clinical Governance Framework which underpins Standard 1. Further, it will  build your understanding of approaches to investigation methods, data analysis and quality improvement.

Key Outcomes:

  • Understand the context and role of clinical incident management (CIM) in terms of the NSQHS second edition
  • Understand how CIM drives quality improvement and patient safety
  • Gain awareness of different clinical incident review methods
  • Gain confidence in incident measurement and how to interpret and act on results.

“The Clinical Incident Management systems that you have in place are important for continuous improvement in the safety and quality of patient care.” Adj Assoc Professor Bernie Harrison

I have been involved with Accreditation and the ACHS for 19 years and have found them to be a leading accrediting agency, if not the best for health care organisations.
