Version 8 of the Gynaecology Clinical Indicators is available for submission for the first half of 2021. In this new version, the CIs have been structured into four revised areas:
1. Blood transfusion2. Injury to a major viscus3. Thromboprophylaxis for major gynaecological surgery4. Hysterectomy
The Working Party resolved to remove the previous single indicator in Area 2, Injury to major viscus, and split it into two new CIs measuring both endoscopic and non-endoscopic injury to a major viscus. In addition, the Working Party revised the definitions within Area 4, Thromboprophylaxis for major gynaecological surgery in order to assist with data collection.
The following Areas are no longer included in Version 8: Laparoscopic management of an ectopic pregnancy, mesh repair, and menorrhagia clinical indicators.
The review process was chaired by Dr Gregory Jenkins from the Royal Australian and News Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. The POS Team would like to thank the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and the Australian College of Nursing for their support in this process.
