Welcoming our New ACHS Board Directors

Bernadette Loughnane and Roslyn Chataway have been appointed ACHS Board Directors.

ACHS welcomes the appointment of Bernadette Loughnane and Roslyn (Ros) Chataway as ACHS Board Directors in November 2023. Their experience and commitment to healthcare excellence make them valuable additions to our governance team.

Bernadette Loughnane was appointed to the ACHS Council in November 2021 representing Australian College of Health Service Management (ACHSM). Ms Loughnane is currently the Chief Executive Officer, Cohuna District Hospital Victoria.

She has a track record of deliverables in Patient Safety matters. In particular, leading the redesign of models of care to enhance safer patient outcomes. Ms Loughnane has been instrumental in leading reform of patient flow to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

Clinically, Bernadette is a registered nurse and midwife, and her clinical experience is predominantly in tertiary and quaternary hospitals having trained in the Richmond Hospital in Dublin.

Ros Chataway was appointed to the ACHS Council in May 2021 representing the Consumers Health Forum of Australia (CHF).

With over 40 years’ experience working in the healthcare field in the public and private sector, Ros has held pivotal roles in management, clinical practice, and administration at both corporate and clinical levels.

She has managed the Safety, Quality and Risk Management Unit in the acute hospital setting and led transformative changes in staff practises based on feedback from consumers provided to the unit. She enjoys the exchange of ideas and input from consumers from a broad range of backgrounds.

We are confident that both Bernadette Loughnane and Ros Chataway will be valued Members to the ACHS Board, propelling our commitment to shaping excellence in healthcare.

These new appointments signal change for our Board, and we would like to acknowledge our retiring Board Members, Mr Tony Lawson and Dr Noela Whitby AM for both their extensive contributions to ACHS and ACHS International (ACHSI).

Mr Tony Lawson has been an ACHS Board Member and Councillor for 11 years, having a significant impact on our organisation in that time. Tony’s involvement spans across numerous committees and initiatives.

Dr Noela Whitby AM has served as a Board Member and Councillor for a remarkable 20 years and an ACHSI Board member for 8 years. Noela has been instrumental in shaping the trajectory of ACHS through her roles.

Thank you to both Mr Lawson and Dr Whitby for your valued time and commitment to the ACHS Board.
