NSQHS Standard 1 – Clinical Governance Update  

Based on the National Model Clinical Governance Framework, this course aims to deepen understanding of clinical governance and its vital role in driving continuous improvement.

Measurement for Improvement 

Measuring performance is fundamental to improvement. Healthcare professionals often encounter challenges with measurement for a variety of reasons including time constraints, lack of education/ training and resistance to change. This course is designed to teach how measurement can be incorporated over time into your daily practice to drive sustainable improvements.   

We are excited to kick-off our first session in May 2024. This is a basic – intermediate level training session suitable for frontline staff, patient safety specialists, quality improvement mangers and department or unit managers. 


Key Training Objectives 

  • Gain insights into the measurement expectations of organisations with respect to overall governance and accreditation of health services.  

  • Understand how the measurement of processes over time allows insight and opportunities to redesign processes of care, specifically related to run charts and statistical process control charts.  

  • Relate measurement to Deming's theories of profound knowledge and the concept of special and common cause variation.   

  • Understand the basic measurement tools that can be used every day even in the absence of technology
