Please see the updates below:
Gastrointestinal Endoscopy: The Gastrointestinal Endoscopy manual update is complete, but we are awaiting the release of the updated Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care (ACSQHC) Colonoscopy Clinical Care Standard to ensure the indicators are aligned in all the critical areas. We know that this is a popular set, and the delay is just awaiting this alignment process.
Hospital Wide: The Hospital Wide user manual has been reviewed and updated in draft form. We will be sending it to members shortly to comment on. There are some changes to the definitions of a few indicators, further clarifying the inclusions and exclusions. The update saw the removal of a few redundant indicators and the alignment of the VTE risk assessment indicator with the Clinical Care Standards. New indicators in the areas of time to arrival in theatre, goals of care and patient experience have been added.
Mental Health: The Mental Health working party met on the 13th of March. The minutes for the meeting have just been completed and the update to the manual is currently in draft. We will circulate this manual to members once we have a first draft available. The major changes recommended were alignment of indicators to per 1,000 bed days and removal of redundant or poorly reported indicators. Updates include a new indicator for specialist sexual assault referrals and a change to the stratification variables based on the clinical capability of the mental health unit.
ACHS would like to thank the healthcare consumers Dr Janney Wale and Ms LeeChing Yip for their contributions in the projects mentioned above.
