Commit to Inclusive Care with Rainbow Tick Accreditation

Now is the time for healthcare organisations to take real steps toward LGBTIQ+ inclusion through Rainbow Tick Accreditation.

LGBTIQ+ communities continue to face discrimination in healthcare settings, impacting their access to care and overall well-being.  There are several dates celebrated throughout the year that build awareness of these challenges and promote diversity and inclusion. May 17 is IDAHOBIT Day, the International Day against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia. Pride Month, celebrated annually in June, is a period dedicated to recognising and celebrating the contributions, history, and struggles of the LGBTQIA+ community.  While we celebrate and acknowledge progress, real impact comes from continuous efforts to foster environments where everyone is respected, valued, and included every day of the year.

In partnership with Rainbow Health Australia, we are encouraging healthcare organisations to take meaningful, lasting action by committing to Rainbow Tick Accreditation. Developed and delivered by Rainbow Health Australia, Rainbow Tick is a world first quality framework that helps healthcare organisations show that they are safe, inclusive and affirming services and employers for the LGBTIQ+ community.

Join Interactive Training Supporting LGBTIQ+ Inclusion

The pathway to Rainbow Tick Accreditation starts with How2 training. This program is currently free for eligible Victorian health and human services organisations, and open to all organisations with availability in May and June.

This flagship training program, developed by Rainbow Health Australia, supports organisations to gain the knowledge, skills and tools to develop a whole-of-organisation LGBTIQ+ strategy.

Completing the How2 Program can greatly assist organisations in gaining Rainbow Tick accreditation, which is currently only for health and human services organisations. However, any organisation will benefit from the program, whether or not they are seeking formal accreditation. Book your place here.

Why it matters

Research shows that LGBTIQ+ Australians, including lesbian, bisexual, and queer (LBQ) women, often face barriers to accessing safe and inclusive healthcare. A recent briefing paper, Mapping the State of Lesbian, Bisexual and Queer Women’s Health in Australia, highlights concerning disparities in mental health, experiences of discrimination, and access to care. By embedding inclusive practice into governance, workforce training, and service delivery, organisations can help close these gaps.

Rainbow Tick Accreditation signals to staff, patients, and communities that your organisation is a safe, inclusive and affirming services and employers for the LGBTIQ community.

ACHS is proud to be an independent provider for Rainbow Tick Accreditation. Our experienced team are here to support your organisation through the process.
