Designed for clinicians, managers, and leaders committed to improving care, this practical and interactive 9-month program builds capability in improvement science, patient safety, and redesigning care at the microsystem level. Led by an expert faculty of clinicians who understand the real-world challenges of today’s healthcare environment, the QIL program gives you the skills to lead continuous improvement. Enrolment for 2026 is now open, with a course start date of 12 March 2026.

I think it was an excellent course, it has been one of the most worthwhile courses I’ve done in my entire career in Australia or overseas. It will genuinely change how I practise for the rest of my life. The teaching was excellent, and programs like this are exactly what the Australian healthcare system needs otherwise we are leading to a crisis.

You Could Be the Next Leader in Transformative Change

In our November 2025 QIL Graduation Ceremony we proudly celebrated the remarkable achievements of this year’s program graduates. This cohort brought together graduates from across Australia and New Zealand. Participants worked across acute, rural and community services.

Throughout the year, participants worked on 24 unique improvement projects, each driving measurable gains in areas such as care variability, medication safety, reducing infections, patient flow and more. Project topics included:

  • Supporting neonatal extubation and sepsis

  • Care for geriatric patients and older people at risk of delirium

  • Using cognitive aids for rare emergency situations
