The ACHS Improvement Academy recently delivered a custom QI Tools to Go training session for the Allied Health Assistants at Murrumbidgee and Southern NSW LHD
Led by the ACHS Improvement Academy facilitator, Katie Robinson, the virtual session was designed specifically for Allied Health Assistants and provided a practical and engaging introduction to quality improvement tools and principles.
Allied Health Assistants are in a unique position to observe, support, and influence care delivery at the frontline. Their close, consistent contact with patients and multidisciplinary teams means that they often notice practical issues, inefficiencies, or opportunities for improvement that may go unseen by others.
The aim of the custom training session was to equip participants with quality improvement knowledge to identify opportunities to enhance care, improve efficiency, and contribute meaningfully to innovation and service delivery.

Participants in the session were introduced to core components of the Clinical Practice Improvement (CPI) model, with a strong focus on:
Understanding the importance of finding a problem to solve, not a solution to implement
Knowing how to apply the commonly used Quality Improvement Tools
Introducing small cycle tests of change (PDSA)
