The ACHS Improvement Academy (IA) is offering a free Member orientation session introducing the new National Model for Clinical Governance and the supporting resources developed by the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care (The Commission).
This informative one-hour session will provide an overview of what has changed, why it matters, and how organisations can use the model to strengthen clinical governance to deliver safer, higher-quality care.
What you'll learn
By the end of the session, participants will be able to:
Describe the intent of the new clinical governance resources and model.
Identify the key changes and foundations within the model.
Recognise the suggested implementation pathway, the five-step roadmap and maturity scale.
Locate and consider how to use the supporting tools to begin conversations about clinical governance improvement in their own organisation.
Who should attend?
This session is designed for professionals responsible for leading, implementing or supporting clinical governance, including:
Quality, safety, and clinical governance professionals who need to understand the new clinical governance resources and support their organisation’s transition to the updated framework.
Clinical leaders, senior clinicians, and managers responsible for translating clinical governance expectations into practical team-level systems and behaviours.
Accreditation, standards, and compliance leads who need to understand how the updated framework aligns with accreditation readiness, evidence requirements, maturity assessment, and continuous improvement.
Educators and facilitators supporting workforce capability, engagement, communication, and local implementation of clinical governance changes.
Consumer partnership, cultural safety, risk, data, and workforce leads involved in embedding the framework’s foundations across organisational systems, committees, reporting, and improvement priorities.

Meet the presenters
The session will be presented by ACHS Improvement Academy Director, Leah Falkingham and IA Education Lead, Katie Robinson, two experienced healthcare improvement leaders with extensive expertise in clinical governance, workforce capability, education and quality improvement.
Together, Leah and Katie will provide practical guidance to help participants understand the new model and begin meaningful conversations about strengthening clinical governance in their own organisations.
