Welcome to our Staff Spotlight where we introduce our great teams who work tirelessly to support ACHS Members.
In this edition, we learn more about Belinda Chambers, Manager at ACHS Consulting.
What inspired you to pursue a career in healthcare, and how has that shaped your journey to working in healthcare consulting?
My career began in clinical care and nurse leadership, before progressing into quality and risk management roles, and later contributing to COVID-19 recovery projects.
My journey from nursing to leadership has shown me the direct link between effective clinical governance and achievable outcomes. I saw how high-quality care relies on strong systems and governance that support consistent, safe, and effective delivery. The link between frontline care and organisational structures became impossible to ignore.
That’s what led me to healthcare consulting. Consulting offers a way to help services build the frameworks and capability they need. It’s about not just to reacting to problems, but delivering care that is intentional, safe, and forward-thinking.
What does your role as Consulting Manager at ACHS involve, and what do you enjoy most about it?
As the Consulting Manager at ACHS, I work closely with healthcare organisations to strengthen their systems, processes, and governance frameworks.
Having worked on the frontline and in quality and risk management, I’ve seen how gaps in foundational systems can directly affect the safety and consistency of care. This experience puts me in a unique position to guide services with a clinical lens, helping them move from reactive approaches to proactive, sustainable models of high-quality care.
What I enjoy most is partnering with organisations to build capability and confidence in their teams. It’s rewarding to see services grow stronger, not just in meeting standards, but in creating meaningful, lasting improvements for staff and patients alike.
What sets ACHS Consulting apart from other consulting services in the healthcare space?
ACHS Consulting stands out for its deep experience, professionalism, and commitment to high-quality delivery. We’ve partnered with a diverse range of healthcare organisations across Australia, bringing a practical and evidence-based approach tailored to each setting.
Is there a recent project or success story that stands out to you?
Some of the work I’m most proud of has been with smaller healthcare organisations, particularly those that often feel that they lack the infrastructure or confidence to meet compliance and governance requirements. Many feel overwhelmed and unsure where to begin. I enjoy being able to bring not just technical expertise, but also reassurance and a step-by-step approach that helps build their confidence and capability.
For healthcare organisations thinking about engaging ACHS Consulting, what’s the first step, and what can they expect?
No matter where you're starting from, we will work with you to understand your organisation’s needs and take that first step towards improvement. It’s a collaborative, supportive process from the start. For those interested, I invite you to book a confidential chat with me—I’m always happy to talk through how we can support your goals.
What healthcare topic interests you most?
I am particularly interested in topics related to regional health services, aged care and the growing role of Telehealth. These areas face unique challenges, but also present enormous opportunities, especially with Telehealth expanding access and continuity of care in remote communities.
How do you practice self-care and maintain work-life balance?
My non-negotiable is morning exercise—it sets my mental tone for my day. That, plus a well-made Flat White (I do live in Melbourne, after all). Secondly, you need to take moments to recharge yourself. For me, that’s often through photography or music—simple things that refresh the senses. If all else fails find something that makes you laugh, really laugh!
Thank you, Belinda, for sharing your insights and experience with us. We look forward to bringing you further Staff Spotlight articles in the future and showcasing the incredible talent that we foster at ACHS.
