Welcome to our Staff Spotlight where we introduce our great team members who work tirelessly to support ACHS Members and the broader healthcare community.
In this edition, we learn more about Parul Sharma who is an Events Organiser at the ACHS Improvement Academy.
What does a typical day look like as an Event Organiser at the ACHS Improvement Academy (IA), and what do you enjoy most about it?
A typical day at work for me involves, setting my work priorities, responding to Members, connecting with my colleagues, focusing on constant improvement and doing my job with a positive ‘can do’ attitude.
The most exciting part of my job is interacting with people and supporting them in their healthcare improvement journey. Whether it’s within my organisation or outside, building relationships and creating trust is the key for any organisation to thrive.
How do you think the IA makes a difference for healthcare workers?
ACHS Improvement Academy firmly believes that quality improvement in the health care system is not a choice but a requirement. Whether it is providing practical training to healthcare workers and providing them with the skills and tools drive improvement or be a platform which brings together international industry experts and healthcare professionals to insightful discussions on a range of topics in healthcare. Improvement Academy’s role in supporting and driving this mindset brings a difference to healthcare worker’s as well as the patients and their families.
Can you share an example of feedback from an event participant that made you feel proud of your work?
It is hard to choose one particular feedback but if I have to reflect on one, it was where a participant said how each year, the Improvement Academy brings in amazing learning opportunities for healthcare professionals to learn with all levels of experience, who are interested in driving improvement in patient safety. They remarked how the Improvement Academy staff are always encouraging and going the extra mile to support their clients in this journey. This great feedback and many more like this, tells us how we are contributing to better outcomes for patients and the community.
What healthcare topic interests you most?
Quality Improvement and Patient Safety is the most important topic without a doubt, as with the growing pressure on healthcare industry and professionals, there is always room to improve or innovate the way we deliver care. Also, Artificial Intelligence is a popular topic that is becoming a part of life, it will be interesting to see how it will impact healthcare and to what extent.
How do you practice self-care and maintain work life balance?
Apart from spending time with my family that recharges me, also helping my friends in need without them asking, gives me a sense of fulfillment.
An ardent nature lover and an artist at heart, I love gardening and creating art on canvases that reflects both calm and growth. This is what keeps me going.
Thank you Parul, for sharing your insights and experience with us. We look forward to bringing you further Staff Spotlight articles in the future and showcasing the incredible talent that we foster at ACHS.
