NSQHS Standards (Third Edition) Public Consultation.
The Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care (the Commission) is seeking feedback to ensure the next edition of the Standards is relevant, evidence-based, and responsive to emerging challenges and innovations and outcomes focused. The consultation period will close on 30 September 2025.
The first consultation aims to identify:
focus areas for the NSQHS Standards (third edition)
emerging and existing safety and quality issues
key learnings from the NSQHS Standards (second edition)
opportunities to improve the NSQHS Standards structure, support improved engagement and implementation
implementation resources to support the NSQHS Standards (third edition).
How to Participate
There are multiple ways to provide feedback:
1. Written Feedback
Individuals and organisations can submit written feedback via email to nsqhssthirdedition@safetyandquality.gov.au. Written submissions can address all or any of the written submission questions.
2. Online Survey
Health sector survey – for clinicians, health services, and peak bodies
Consumer survey – for patients, carers, and the public
3. Forums and Focus Groups
The Commission will host consultations nationally with key stakeholders including clinicians, health services, consumers, peak bodies, and government representatives.
Health Sector Sessions are held across states and territories, while Consumer Sessions are open to patients, carers, advocates, and their families.
